Y si la encuentras pobre, Ítaca no te ha engañado: Después del terremoto (After the earthquake)

Después de volver a Cobán, bajamos hasta Antigua. Se llama así, porque esa era en realidad antes la ciudad de Guatemala, la capital, pero hubo 2 grandes terremotos que destruyeron la ciudad casi por completo, entonces la corona española (de la cual la ciudad era capital en América) pasó Antigua (por Antigua Guatemala) a lo que es ahora la ciudad de Guatemala. Pero no todos se fueron, las personas que se quedaron mantuvieron el estilo colonial de la ciudad.

Me recordó mucho a Cuenca, aunque más colonial aún, menos frío, pero del mismo tamaño. Es la sierra guatemalteca y parte de las mejores zonas del país, de acuerdo a muchos turistas. Para Oren, por ejemplo, el lugar ideal o muy cerca de llegar.

Me enteré que volvieron a Antigua, muchachos, seguramente no fue lo mismo sin mi.

Esta fue mi última parada con mis chicos israelíes, de aquí parto a reunirme con Helene en Chiquimula.

After returning to Coban, we went down to Antigua (means old). It´s called like this, because it used to be the city of Guatemala, the capital, but there were two big earthquakes that destroyed the city almost entirely, so, the spanish crown (of which the city was capital in America) moved Antigua (from Antigua Guatemala - old Guatemala) to what we know now as Guatemala City. But not everybody left, the people that stayed kept the colonial style of the city.

It reminded me a lot of Cuenca, a little bit more colonial though, less cold, but around the same size. It´s gutemalan highlands and one of the best parts of the country, according to some tourists. For Oren, for example, the ideal place o close to get there.

I found out you went back to Antigua, guys, it was definitely not the same without me.

This was my last stop with my israeli boys, from here I go to meet Helene in Chiquimula.
